The 2020 Season for the Morrow Brothers Ford MOWA Sprint Car Series came to an end on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway. 29 entrants signed in for the annual “Ron Milton Race of Champions”.
It was Morgan Turpen and Kyle Schuett who led the field to the green. Turpen was able to jump out in front of the field while others battled behind her. Continuing to lead as she approached lapped traffic, Turpen’s lead was shortened as Carson Short had worked past Scotty Thiel and set his sights on Turpen’s #10 machine. Short waited for the opportunity to pounce and once he saw an opening, he made the move. Making his way past polesitter Morgan Turpen, Short then fought back challenges from Zach Daum, who started fifth. Daum was able to pull alongside Short twice, but couldn’t make the pass. Short never looked back as he soared to victory with the MOWA Sprints for his second-career series feature win. Zach Daum, who came up one spot shy, finished second with Scotty Thiel, Morgan Turpen and Korey Weyant rounding out the top five.
In a year that just saw six events take place for the MOWA Sprints, the series saw four drivers find victory lane, with Paul Nienhiser and Rico Abreu tying with two wins apiece. Zach Daum and Carson Short both were victorious in a single event.
