Pierce Wins Thriller at Peoria

Bobby Pierce won a absolute thriller at Peoria Speedway on Wednesday night to make it back-to-back wins on opening week of the Summer Nationals tour.

(Peoria, IL) – Forty drivers entered the event at Peoria Speedway on Wednesday for round two of the Summer Nationals tour. Sheffield, IL driver Rich Bell started the night setting the overall fast time with a lap of 12.396 seconds. There were four exciting heat races that were won by Ryan Unzicker, Brian Shirley, Tanner English and Bobby Pierce.

The feature event was a thriller, 40 laps caution free. Every car that started the race finished as the top 5 drivers battled all over the race track for the win. Ryan Unzicker held the lead for nearly three-fourths of the event before Bobby Pierce was able to get around him using the high line. The multi groove prepared surface made for some exciting racing for the fans. Pierce has started the tour off hot with back to back wins. Defending Summer Nationals Champ Brian Shirley came home second and Ryan Unzicker rounded out the podium. The tour moves on Thursday to the Kankakee County Speedway for round three of the Hell Tour.
