Davenport Continues Excellence at North/South

August 13, 2022 at Florence Speedway ($75,000 to win)

By Jack Cofer

The No. 1 ranked dirt late model driver in the world, Jonathan Davenport, proved his worth once again by winning his second career North/South 100. In the highest paying race in Florence Speedway history, “Superman” and the Lance Landers team pocketed $75,000 for their efforts. Davenport led all 100 laps en route to his 63rd Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory. Wells Motorsports driver Brandon Overton made a late race charge as Davenport encountered lap traffic, but it wasn’t enough and Overton finished second. Dale McDowell secured the third spot for an all Georgia driver podium finish in the feature.
