Some may say it was a down year for the “Smooth Operator.” Yes, he did not bring home the big wins he has over the past few seasons, but it did not mean he was not competitive. Bobby Pierce did bring home seven feature wins on the year that included a couple of Mars Racing Series wins on Labor Day weekend.

On Thursday night of the Farmer City 74 Bobby dominated the feature event. Starting up front he cruised on to a $5,000 payday to kick off the 4-day race weekend where Bobby also ran his modified. On Friday night the competition was intense as Pierce was one of the six drivers battling it out for the win. When the checkered flag flew Bobby came up just short and finished runner up.

On Saturday night the Mars Racing Series moved on to the Fairbury Speedway for the $10,000 to win special. Bobby has been so close to big payday’s at Fairbury over the past few seasons and always seems like bad luck strikes. But there was no messing around on this Saturday night. Pierce took the early lead and did not look back. This made for two wins and a runner up in a three-race stretch. This was one of the highlights of the Oakwood, IL driver’s season.
