September (By Tyson Graves)
Nick Hoffman has become a standout in the dirt modified world. The owner and chief builder of the Elite Chassis has been the guy to beat at big modified events across the country the past few years. Winning many gators during Speedweeks at Volusia and across the country he has become a household name.
In September, this year Hoffman competed a feat that was worth the country taking notice to. On Friday night he took the race win at Farmer City in the Farmer City 74 modified portion. But that was just a preview of things to come over the next couple of nights.
On Saturday night Nick would travel to the Fairbury Speedway chasing a $10,000 payday. Nick would pull off the win with the best drivers in the country. Not only did Nick win at Fairbury but the next night was the Plowboy Nationals at Spoon River Speedway. Nick would win there as well to make it the second night in a row winning a $10,000 payday. Not very often does open wheel modifieds get to compete for that big of a top prize two nights in a row.
The driver from North Carolina has proved he is one to reckon with no matter if he is behind the wheel of a modified or a late model. He looks to run in this next year’s Chili Bowl Nationals as well. Nick with his over $20,000 loot in the Land of Lincoln is one of the top modified moments of 2020.
