In 2020 one driver who returned to old form was the driver out of Bloomington, Illinois, the “Highside Hustler.” Jason Feger, a past Summer Nationals champion has struggled the past couple seasons to find victory lane on a consist basis. He changed that in 2020. Jason found victory lane multiple times this past year on the Summer Nationals tour and was knocking on the door for others.
But the moment of the 2020 season had to be winning in front of the home crowd at Farmer City Raceway. On Labor Day weekend the Mars Racing Series invaded the high banks of Farmer City for the two-day Farmer City 74. On Friday night we saw one the best races of the year as six cars, mainly Illinois bullring racers battled for the win in the middle parts of the race.
At the end it was Feger who held off a charging Bobby Pierce to win on the track closest to his Bloomington shop. The excitement from Feger and the electricity of winning in front of Feger Nation was truly a great moment. In victory lane Jason said he never gets tired of winning at Farmer City. One of the feel-good moments of year and one that will be remembered from 2020.
